English Digital Communication Internship Workshop: Achieve Digital Competence in 4.0 Era THE IMPORTANCE OF ESTABLISHING A SOFTSKILL IN ERA 4.0

 

In this digital era 4.0, the formation of soft skills is no less important than the formation of hard skills for graduate candidates. This was emphasized by the Dean of the Faculty of Communication Sciences, Mercu Buana University, Mr. Ponco Budi Sulistyo, M.Comn, Ph.D, when providing debriefing and at the same time opening an Internship Workshop themed ‘Achieve Digital Competence in 4.0 Era’, for students interested in Digital Communication, Communication Studies Program. , Tuesday, September 17, 2019, at the UMB rectorate building, Jakarta

The workshop was attended by lecturers from the Communication Science Study Program, including: Drs. Dadan Iskandar, M.Si and Mrs. Siti Muslichatul Mahampang, M.Ikom. While the participants are students interested in digital communication from the 2016 class.

The series of workshop activities began with debriefing procedures for job interviews. Delivered seriously, but friendly by Mrs. Yuni Tresnawati, M.Ikom and Mrs. Siti Muslichatul Mahampang, M.Ikom. This material was greeted with great fanfare by the workshop participants, marked by their enthusiasm for asking questions and following the apprenticeship simulation event that was held afterwards. This workshop event also presented experienced practitioners from the field of Digital Communication, namely Mrs. Wulan Ranny Widyanto, as Human Resources Director of Leverate Media Asia, and Mr. Abdu Maalikul as Business Development Manager for Ninja Express. The material for Career Paths in the field of Digital Communication presented by Mrs. Wulan Ranny Widyanto was colored with enthusiasm from the workshop participants, because from this material, participants would gain experience and knowledge about the Digital Creative Industry. Participants also actively asked, considering the material presented was related to their output as Digital Communication Graduates, namely Social Media Analysts, and Digital Media Planners.

No less exciting, the material on Competence and Adaptation in the Digital Communication Industry presented by Mr. Abdu Maalikul gave the workshop participants an overview of what they could do after graduating from the Digital Communication major. Apart from delivering the material, the speakers also opened up opportunities for direct walk-in interviews at the workshop venue. So that participants who are interested in joining, can immediately submit their CVs and be interviewed on the spot. The enthusiasm of the participants was maintained until the last event, Job Interview Simulation and Personal Performance Assessment in English. This simulation was guided by Mrs. Anindita M.Ikom, and Mrs. Muthia Rahayu, M.Ikom as lecturers from the Faculty of Communication Sciences.

With this Digital Communication apprenticeship workshop, it is hoped that the participants will be able to absorb all the knowledge provided, and be able to apply it during the internship interview, or at the next level.
